intrepidity in action at the risk of his life above and beyond
the call of duty the Medal of Honor was awarded to JOHN HARRY THOMPSON, (also known as J. (JAMES) HARRY THOMPSON).
United States Army Surgeon, USA, at New Bern, North Carolina, 14 March 1862. Voluntarily reconnoitered the enemy's position and carried orders under the hottest fire.
