AMEDD Regimental Affiliation

AMEDD Regimental Affiliation Certificate

1. The U.S. Army Regimental System was established in 1981 to provide each soldier with a continuous identification with a single regiment. The purpose of the system is to establish a method that would "enhance combat effectiveness through a framework that provides the opportunity for affiliation, develops loyalty and commitment, fosters an extended sense of belonging, improves unit esprit, and institutionalizes the war fighting ethos".

2. The intent and spirit of the Regimental System is to provide soldiers with the opportunity for affiliation with a particular unit. The Surgeon General, United States Army, extends formal affiliation to all AMEDD soldiers with the U.S. Army Medical Department Regiment - a regiment whose tradition of caring is distinguished by more than 200 years of proud and faithful service to soldiers, the United States Army, and the United States of America. All initial entry training Military Occupational Specialty producing courses and the Officer Basic Course formally affiliate soldiers during their rites of passage or graduation ceremonies.

3. Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard AMEDD soldiers not affiliated are encouraged to notify their chain of command. All Commanders are encouraged to ascertain their AMEDD soldiers are affiliated with the AMEDD Regiment, and may submit requests to the AMEDD Regimental Office via electronic mail or fax.
